Hello world and elsewhere! This is the fingerwork of none other than Smoker (aka Smokestack Lightning, Smokey, Bob, etc). I am writing to you from a padded room deep within Punk Rock Payroll headquarters to bring you good news. We have been working long and hard to bring you a thrilling live show, the likes of which haven't been seen since Jon Bon Jovi headlined Madison Square Garden on May 5, 1988 9:00 PM EST. We have also been writing new music, which you may hear in the near future (if the price is right).
We've also done a bit of travelling in the past months. On the 20th of June, we went out to Evanston, IL to perform at the annual Custer Fair, which was a smashing success. Last week we went down to Harrisonburg, VA to play at Clementine Cafe. We had a wonderful time, and I had a Po' Boy sandwich that gave me that push I needed to bring the rocking to a maximum.
Anyways, what's most important right now is the fact that we are putting on a fantastic show on this Friday, July 23. It will be at the Blockley Pour House at 38th St and Chestnut St in Philadelphia, PA. The show also features two groups of friends that you may be familiar with: Toy Soldiers, The Dangerous Ponies, and an appearance by our new labelmates, The Armchairs. I can personally guarantee that Jay will be bringing it to the hole with his guitarfish and soaring vocals, Scooter will be serving us up with an almost unhealthy dose of facemelting solos, Matt will bodyslam you with bowel-shaking bass tones, Koof will trumpet us into the end zone ,and I will be swinging and hitting on the drums. Be there.
Much love,
Smoker

Greetings from Savannah, GA!

I pen this entry from our luxurious accomodations here at the Oglethorpe Inn and Suites, situated in a warm southern hideaway on the coast of Georgia. Ah, Savannah! Home to the Savannah College of Art and Design - It is here that we have already begun the task of recording our original film score in a top of the line studio that will accompany an indepent feature film called 'The Space Jockey Pursuit'. On our travels many have asked just what this film is about - having read the script on numerous occasions I still find it hard to nail down because it is such a dynamic story so I'll let the film makers do the talking via the official website for the project, found here at theSpaceJockeyPursuit.com. Matt and I will be spending the whole week in the studio and wandering the Savannah landscape in search of, among other things, good food.
All this and only yesterday we were on tour of epic proportions that boasted one of the best lineups I've ever heard of. Yes, the Punk Rock Payroll Circus was in town and if you werent there you missed quite a spectacle indeed! For three nights we had the honor of sharing the stage with 14 of Philadelphia's finest, and as I'm sure you can imagine there wasn't a dull moment. With one tour under the belt we were all left wishing the tour had been bigger, longer and further! Rest assured, the PRP Label Tour is an annual event. Officially. See our family photo here!
With all this in mind, Matt and I are off to find breakfast. It's 1:12 PM - right on schedule.

LATEST HEADLINES: Gogol Bordello Shows Definitely as Awesome as Anticipated

Mere days after our short stint with Gogol Bordello in Virginia and Washington, D.C., we are already knee deep in the muck and mire of new progress. Due to a higher influx of traffic on both ExtraordinairesMusic.com and PunkRockPayroll.com, we've finally merged the two so we can keep you informed and up to date on our latest exploits faster and more directly! With the Year of the Tiger upon us, let us take a look forward.
On the Immediate Horizon:
1.) Show at Jonny Brenda's with our friends in Real Estate on Sat. Jan. 9th, music starts at 10PM. We will have Andy and Harkness (courtesy of their band, the Armchairs) performing with us as super ultra special guests. Mind you this is only a two band bill and Real Estate is getting some serious street cred lately. How could you not come to this show? Barring the age issue? AWESOME!
2.) Show in at DC9 in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 14th, 2010 to follow up our back to back shows at the 9:30 with Gogol Bordello. This time around we will be in the comfortable pressences of Olivia and the Housemates!
3.) The Punk Rock Payroll Label Showcase MINI TOUR starts on the 15th, 16th and 17th! It's the time of year when we harvest 4 Extraordinaires, 8 Dangerous Ponies, 4 Kill Facers and 2 Lux Perpetuans and pack them into four seperate vans and play shows in other towns! It's one act away from being a full on circus, and it's happening in Baltimore, Charlottesville VA and Boone NC. Check our dates for more info!
4.) Instrumental Film Score Recording this month! Our friends Brian and Matthew, who form the fraternal filmmaking duo known as the Titshaw Brothers, invited us over a year ago to write and record an original score for their first major independent feature film. After reading through the script and discussing the direction of the music we got to work, and now have a mountain of fresh instrumental material to pull from. Will be spending a week in Savannah GA recording for said film, which is in pre production as of this date.
5.) VOTE FOR US! We have been nominated to be Deli Magazine's Emerging Artist of the Year! Emerging from where you might ask? We here at Extraordinaires headquarters have no idea, but I was told it would be a good idea to give you a link to the contest and put it to you strongly that you should vote for us. Please keep in mind that we have neither the plans nor the resources whatsoever to return the favor to each one of you individually for voting Team Extraordinaire, and I'm not sure that an online voting contest is the most accurate measure of a band's growth within a city's scene, but I will say this: it is a total honor to be a nominee and, should we be crowned king in this contest, we would definitely push our innitiative for Free Pizza Fridays. In fact, I pledge that we'll buy a enough pizza for everyone and give it out for free at our next show should we be victorious. Please feel free to call our bluff.
Thank you to everyone we met after our shows at Gogol - you warmed our hearts and filled our gas tank so we can come back and visit you!
Until Next Time,
jay and matt, The Extraordinaires

Here we are, hanging out at Punk Rock Payroll Headquarters learning the newest, most intuitive user interface a band could ever want out of a website. We decided to move ExtraordinairesMusic.com right here, nestled within the warm high tech walls of the all new Punk Rock Payroll website. Now that we don't need a digital machete to hack through a jungle of my amateur HTML code, you will recieve more updates faster from the frontlines, and all the up to date news possible.
Here's a list of some things we worked on this week:
Look here every Monday afternoon to check on our progress!
